			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Here&#8217;s a painting I did recently, inspired by Italo Calvino&#8217;s short story <em>The Adventure of a Nearsighted Man</em>. Calvino is a great author to inspire paintings; his stories are very rich and vivid, and yet he never gets bogged down in detail.</p>
<p>The first thumbnail below is my initial sketch, and the next one is the layer of acrylics I put down to begin. To paint the sky, I cut a mask out of cardstock and carefully rubbed the color on with a paper towel.</p>
